Though this case has already been acknowledged and dealt with, today, video of the incident has surfaced. Levar Jones got out of his car and was ordered by a nearby police officer, who we now know to be Highway Patrol Trooper Sean Groubert, to retrieve his license. Jones immediately turned around to presumably grab his license from the car, and Groubert–for lack of a better term–freaked out.

He immediately began yelling out to Jones to get out of the car, and as soon as Jones turned around, Groubert fired at him several times, eventually hitting him in the hip. The kicker? Shortly after Jones was subdued, Groubert began asking him if he was hit. Of course he is officer, you knowingly shot him.

Reports confirm that Jones was treated at the hospital for hip injuries stemming from the shooting, and released shortly thereafter. As far as Groubert, he’s been fired from the force and is facing several charges in court, including Assault of a high and aggravated nature.
