On March 28th of this year, Bobby Shmurda, a young kid from Brooklyn looking to break into the rap game, uploaded a video dubbed “Hot N***a”–a remix of Lloyd Banks‘ “Jackpot” track–to YouTube using an account by the name of “Maine Fetti”. This past June, via a string of Vine and Instagram videos that went viral, Shmurda’s “Hot N***a” completely blew up, becoming the unofficial song of the summer, and earning the raw 20-year old emcee, who raps about “selling crack since the 5th grade”, the attention and co-signs of everyone from Drake to Beyonce. Meek Mill flew him out to Florida to perform at King Of Diamonds, Drake brought him out during the Drake VS Wayne tour, Jay Z Shmoney danced during the On The Run tour, etc. Epic Records signed Shmurda to a record deal, and the remix of “Hot N***a” features Chris Brown, Busta Rhymes and more. Coupled with the official Vevo re-release of “Hot N***a”, Shmurda’s video has accumulated over 40 million views. Tonight, Shmurda will make his late night debut on Jimmy Fallon‘s The Tonight Show, and the nation will be formally introduced to rap’s newest breakout star.

The censor team at NBC has their work cut out for them.
