Most of the clan dodged the question, but U-God tells all

Just over a year ago, when Drake‘s Nothing Was The Same album was released, most of the people that weren’t fans of the album had many negative things to say about the 40-produced “Wu-Tang Forever” track, which features Drake sampling The Wu-Tang Clan, but singing and rapping about a woman he’s coveting. Shortly after the release of the album, there were several rumors of two different “Wu-Tang Forever” remixes. One of them actually came to fruition, and Drake shot a video for it with A$AP Rocky–who was slated to appear on the remix–in Harlem, but due to label politics that video never came out, and probably will never see the light of day. The other rumored remix featured the actual Wu-Tang Clan, and there were reports from several members of the group–who just inked a deal with Warner Bros. to release their new album A Better Tomorrow–that slowly but surely, they were recording verses for the impending remix. Unfortunately, that never came to fruition either, and while Wu Tang held a media day celebrating their new deal with Warner, MTV caught up with the band of brothers to find out why.

According to U-God:

I guess we came too hard for him; he wanted us to talk about broads. We had to write it real fast. No lie, I probably had about six hours to write this thing. At the time, I wasn’t feeling woman-y — I was feeling hard as nails. So, I wrote him a hard as nail rhyme, and we was talking about something totally different, so the subject matter didn’t really mesh.

While most of the Clan may not want to admit to this, chances are this is truly the reason. Maybe Drake will give his side of the story. Maybe.
