Young Thug‘s rapid come-up from indecipherable turn-up specialist to one of Hip-Hop’s most talented and intriguing young artists has been accentuated by one paramount comparison: his 2014 is much like Lil’ Wayne‘s 2007. ’07 for Wayne was even more important than that time he sold a million first week (Tha Carter III, 2008) because his incessant, almost reckless manner of releasing music, rapping on nearly everything, and bodying rappers in the process is what set the stage for C3 to be as big as it was. Thug, who at times sounds very much like Lil Wayne and has admittedly been so inspired by the NOLA ambassador that he half-joked that he would name his debut album Tha Carter VI, has had a similar track record in 2014. From mixtape bangers (“Old English”, “Givenchy”) to charting/hit singles (“Lifestyle”, “Stoner”, “2 B*****s”) and of course, marquee features (“About The Money”, “Hookah”), Thug has become 2014’s Hip-Hop’s most ubiquitous young commodity. So, to say Wayne and Thug’s first collaboration was pretty highly anticipated, would be accurate. So, here it is.

Officially, “Take Kare” is the first single from Rich Gang 2, the upcoming album from Birdman‘s hand-picked collective.
