Tragedy strikes a family in Brooklyn
A 20-year old man, Kelsey Smith, has been arrested by the NYPD after his beating of his 3-year old stepdaughter, Jeida Torres, sent her into cardiac arrest and lead to her eventual tragic death at a nearby hospital.
An NBC report, which also says Smith is responsible for the injuries suffered by Torres’ 5-year old brother, says Torres was unconscious and bruised when someone came across her at a homeless shelter on Saturday evening. She had been clearly assaulted by someone, and authorities are saying Smith snapped because the 3-year old may have soiled her pants. Smith also physically assaulted the 5-year brother, who sustained non-life threatening injuries, and was taken to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center.
Kelsey Smith has been arrested 15 times before, once for assault.
