In theaters December 25, “Selma” centers around the pivotal 3-month period in 1965 during which Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. faced violent opposition while attempting to secure equal voting rights. Presented by Paramount Pictures, Pathé, and Harpo Films, “Selma’s” A-list cast includes: Oprah WinfreyCuba Gooding Jr,  Common and many more. Common takes on the role of playing James Bevel, an instrumental leader of the 1963 March on Washington and the 1965 Selma Voting Rights Movement. Directed by Ava DuVernay, “Selma” depicts how the pivotal march from Selma to Montgomery prompted President Johnson to finally sign the Voting Rights Act of 1965. “Selma” reminds us of all that Dr.Martin Luther King Jr. and his fellow activists accomplished and the many obstacles they overcame to achieve some equality.
