A new report from Sports Illustrated details exactly how much the highest played players in the NBA are making before and after taxes, and some of the figures are pretty staggering. For starters, Joe Johnson is bringing home the largest post-tax checks home this season, with a total pull of $12,505,872 million. To put that in perspective, Johnson was recently ranked as the NBA’s 59th best player, behind stars like Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant and LeBon James, all of whom lag significantly behind Johnson in the paycheck category. Hey, let’s not use this as an opportunity to bog Joe down. He’s currently averaging 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists per game, which is up from last year’s averages of 16, 3 and 3. He’s certainly carrying the Nets–who are currently 4-2–offensively, and should he keep this up all year, those “overrated” whispers might simmer down to just that. Whispers.
