Rihanna hasn’t been quiet in nearly a decade, but musically, she’s kept her appearances on wax to a minimum. Outside of a few collaborations (Wale‘s “Bad RMX,” Eminem‘s “The Monster”), Rih Rih has been very quiet with her vocals, but according to DJ Skee, that’s all about to change. Her new album, referred to as R8 for now, allegedly already has 10 songs ready to go, and Rih’s aiming for a 4th quarter, 2014 release. Skee had this to say about the pop starlet’s upcoming music.

That project is a lot closer than anyone realized, including her own record label. Last weekend in New York City, [Rihanna] took a couple Def Jam executives to a top secret location and played ten new records. So, that means she’s trying to put out a project to capitalize off the fourth quarter craziness.

Considering there are about 6 weeks left in the year, if there’s any truth to what DJ Skee is saying, Rihanna could be about to heat up very quickly. There’s no understating her 4th quarter selling power–she released an album every November from 2009-2012, and all four have since been certified platinum–and considering how much bigger she’s become over the past couple years, 2014 would be no different. We’ll have to wait and see what Rih’s cooking up, but Skee mentioned a song called “I’ve Been Searching For Something To Ignite Me,” which, just based off the title, sounds like something worth checking out.
