Cleveland Brown‘s rookie quarterback Johnny Manziel has been the object of much scorn and debate in the sports world. Whether it is his party habits or the abrasive care free attitude that he plays with, it rubs a lot of people the wrong way. As a result, Manziel, or Johnny Football as many refer to him as , is one of those athletes that the media is foaming at the mouth to catch in a compromising situation, much like FSU QB Jameis Winston or NY Knicks guard J.R. Smith. It appears as though the Manziel naysayers now have something new to whet their appetite with.

According to the Clevescene, Manziel and his entourage were involved in a brawl in downtown Cleveland’s The 9 hotel. Chris Gonos, 33, was with his girlfriend in the hotel lobby when he spotted Manziel and excitedly approached him professing his love for the team, it is here the story goes left. According to Gonos, he reached out to give Manziel a hug or handshake and was met with a punch in the face by one of the QB’s associates. He continues by saying that he began to be trampled by the crew and his brother lunged at Manziel in his defense. Gonos makes it clear that Manziel never actually hit him, but did strike his brother in the face while security was on the scene.

Surely the footage from this incident will fall into the hands of one Harvey Levin and TMZ sometime soon. See Gonos’ full here

Cleveland Browns General Manager Ray Farmer issued a statement:

“We are aware of the incident and are in the process of gathering additional information in order to gain a complete understanding of what occurred. Nonetheless, the time of the incident is concerning to us. We continually stress to all of our players the importance of sound decision making in an effort to avoid putting themselves in these types of situations. We have addressed this appropriately with the player and will have no further comment at this time.”

It is also being reported that the alleged victim, Chris Gonos, plead guilty in federal court last year to “conspiracy to structure financial transactions to evade filing currency transaction reports.” Don’t know what that means exactly or how it pertains to this incident but it was shared nonetheless. Though all parties were allowed to leave the scene with no arrests, this certainly won’t do anything to help Manziel rebel image.
