Actor Diego Luna and “Top Five” Star Rosario Dawson attended the 30th Film Independent Nominations press conference at W Hollywood on November 25, 2014 in Hollywood, California to announce the 2014 Spirit Award nominees. “Selma” was nominated for Best Picture. Ava DuVernay was nominated for Best Director. Justin Simien’s “Dear White People,” was nominated for best first feature and best first screenplay. André “3000” Benjamin was nominated for best actor in “Jimi: All Is By My Side” and David Oyelowo was also nominated in that category for playing Dr. Martin Luther King in “Selma.” The always stellar Carmen Ejogo was nominated for best supporting actress for gracefully playing Coretta Scott King. Last, but not least another nomination that we want to highlight is Bradford Young who was nominated for best cinematography in “Selma.”
