As we are heading towards the home stretch of what seems to be a highly unpredictable college football season, there are a couple of set of games in which can bring out the ultimate sports fan out of anyone. After a good stuffing of turkey, yams, baked mac and cheese and collard greens, the only thing real college football fans was looking forward to this week was Rivalry week. Classic rivalries such as the Iron Bowl (Auburn vs. Alabama), the Egg Bowl (Mississippi State vs. Ole Miss), Michigan vs. Ohio State, and Florida vs. Florida State has been on every one radar as they can become huge factors of whose season will continue to live on as national championship contenders or “better luck next year” pretenders. One underrated rivalry that has sports America talking right now is the Governor’s Cup, a rivalry matchup between Louisville and Kentucky. Led by head coach Bobby Petrino, the University of Louisville are currently 8-3 as they prep for another outright birth in a bowl game. Meanwhile, the struggling Kentucky Wildcats are 5-6 who are itching to pull a huge upset that can create momentum to finish their disappointing season with a bang. Fireworks began before kickoff even occurred as both teams got physical during pregame stretches. The intensity have gotten so thick that Coach Petrino got into a minor physical altercation with a University of Kentucky coach. Now if that’s not inspiring your football team to destroy your rivals then I don’t know what would be the right tactics then. Street Fam’s own Fabolous said it best…”It’s time to kill the competition.” The Louisville Cardinals and Kentucky Wildcats took that figuratively and literally.
