A knife-wielding mad man was murdered by NYPDÂ at the Chabad-Lubavitch World Headquarters Jewish center and synagogue.
In the wee hours of the morning of Tuesday, December 9, 2014, Israeli student, Levi Rosenblatt, was viciously attacked and stabbed in his head by an emotionally disturbed 49-year old assailant inside of the Chabad-Lubavitch World Headquarters synagogue.
Nearby New York police responded quickly, approached the suspect with caution and actually convinced him to throw away the 9-inch knife he was holding. The intruder didn’t give up his tirade, however, and picked up the knife again. With weapon in hand, he proceeded to run toward the officer and taunted him asking, “Are you going to arrest me?” By this point, many back-up officers were on the scene and commanded the man to drop the knife before firing a shot to his chest.
After arrest and transport to a health care facility, Kings County Hospital later pronounced him dead.
Levi Rosenblatt was taken to the same hospital and is considered to be in stable condition. Both legal and religious authorities are debating whether the stabbing was a hate crime.
