Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks are, after last night’s loss to a San Antonio Spurs team that sat most of its best players, 4-20 so far this season. Rookie head coach Derek Fisher is struggling to find answers, Phil Jackson has taken to Twitter to tell his team to win some games, and to top it all off, Carmelo Anthony is threatening to knock out his teammates.

According to ESPN’s Chris Broussard, Anthony and Hardaway Jr. were on the field jawing at each other after Hardaway Jr. screamed aloud “get the rebound!” and Anthony thought the comment was aimed at him. Broussard then alleges that Anthony then told Hardaway Jr. that he would beat him up when they got to the locker room. Though Anthony never made good on the threat, a source told Broussard that there’s a lot of “a lot of arguing and cursing each other out after games.”

Today, Carmelo Anthony spoke with the New York Daily News briefly, and he quelled whatever rumors were circulating about his relationship with his Knicks teammate of two years.

Just to speak solely on that situation, me and Tim have no problems. I wish I could bring him out here and have him next to me while I’m doing this interview, he will tell you the same thing. That’s pretty much all I can say on that. Tim is a guy who I always wrapped my arm around and put under my wing from Day 1, helped him through times when he’s been down, and I will continue doing that.

Hardaway was asked to comment on the incident, and he referred to it as a “heat of the moment type of deal.”
