Teen sensation Becky G talks growing up in Los Angeles, her music inspirations, and the exciting next steps in her career.
Rebecca Gomez, 17, better known as Becky G, is an American rapper, singer and actress from Inglewood, California. In 2007, her family had to move into her grandmother’s garage in Los Angeles due to financial problems. There, Gomez posted videos of herself dancing, singing and rapping online. She gained some attention in 2012 by rapping 30 bars straight on “Otis” on YouTube.
Becky was discovered by veteran songwriter Dr. Luke and is now signed to Sony Music Entertainment. Her best selling singles include: “Becky from the Block”, “Play it Again” and “Oath” (featuring Cher Lloyd).
The pint size pop star says, “But it just hit me that I wanted to purse music in whatever way possible. Growing up, it was the one thing that was always there for me, whether it was hip-hop, pop, country, or spanish music, it just always completed me.”
