D’Angelo‘s last album, 2000’s Voodoo, was released to widespread critical acclaim, and is commonly referred to as one of the best neo-soul albums of all-time. Since then, D’Angelo–real name Michael Archer–has been off the grid, making random appearances at music festivals, and Questlove, who has worked on D’Angelo’s music in recent years, has alluded to a new D’Angelo album being on its way.

Well, it appears that day is here.

Today, D’angelo’s manager Kevin Liles announced that his new album, Black Messiah, is coming soon, in addition to the release of a trailer for the album–which you can watch above–. Also, some pretty obscure, provocative posters that have been posted in Brooklyn.

For those chalking this up to be an elaborate stunt, there is a listening session for the album this Sunday, and as pictured above, there are already hard copies. Though a release date hasn’t been confirmed, the internet whispers are indicating that it could be available for purchase as early as December 16, which is Tuesday. Wow.
