48 hours ago, if you asked someone what they thought of Bobby Shmurda, they’d do either of two things: break out into a “bout a week ago” chant, or break out in a random Shmoney dance. If you ask that same person that question today, you’ll get a very somber head shake as a reply. Two nights ago, Shmurda along with several members of his GS9 crew were arrested at Quad Studios, where several guns were seized. According to the office of the city’s special narcotics prosecutor, the arrests were the result of a long-term investigation into violent incidents and narcotics.

Today, the NYPD Commissioner, Bill Bratton, and Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget Brennan spoke at a press conference addressing the arrests, and had this to say about the operation.

In addition to his words, Bratton had the firearms that were recovered from the crew following the crew’s arrest.

Furthermore, the sealed indictments that were reported in yesterday’s arrest stories have been revealed, and Shmurda will face charges of conspiracy to commit 2nd degree murder, conspiracy to commit 2nd degree assault, and additional weapons and narcotics charges. Currently, Shmurda and his crew are being held on $2 million bail, a tab that Epic Records–the label that signed him this summer after his hit single, “Hot N***a,” became America’s obsession–is reportedly set to pick up.
