2014 was in danger of having the unfortunate title of The Year Wale Did Not Release An Album Or A Mixtape. He’s done so every year since his debut album, Attention Deficit, was released in 2009, and this year will be no different. Before his Jerry Seinfeld-inspired and assisted 4th LP, The Album About Nothing, is released next year, Wale will release Festivus, a joint mixtape with star DJ A-Trak, on December 23rd. In addition to his announcement, which is sure to please his fans considering his last project was released in June of 2013 (The Gifted), Wale has released a new song that will not appear on Festivus, called “Miracle On U Street.” “Miracle” is far from a Christmas-y record, and finds Wale using his deft wordplay to make several statements on not only what’s to come, but his status as an elite rapper today. Whenever TAAN comes, will Wale rise to the occasion? It’s easily his most anticipated album yet. Listen below.
