The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore will premiere January 19 on Comedy Central. The show will fill the time slot that once belonged to the Colbert Report. The show will air original episodes four nights a week and feature Wilmore’s comedic perspective on current events and pop culture. Wilmore was a correspondent on “The Daily show” and told the Times that, “It’s a show about underdogs, and that happens in a lot of different forms, whether it’s race, gender, or whatever,” as the show was originally going to be named “The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore,” but was renamed to avoid brand confusion. The show’s creator, Jon Stewart, and Larry Wilmore are also co-producing the talk show along with Buboy Productions. The show is sure to add an all new edge to late night television.
