The tensions have escalated all over New York City after Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu were shot dead; by a gunman who through social media sought out to avenge the deaths of Eric Garner and Michael Brown. NYPD Chief Chaplain Rabbi Alvin Kass led a moment of silence for Ramos and Liu before Monday’s swearing-in ceremony. De Blasio was booed at, and some yelled ‘traitor’ from the crowd as he approached the podium; yet he was able to get through his speech to the tough crowd of graduating officers.
