Mayor Bill de Blasio was booed as he addressed 884 officers at a graduation ceremony, in Madison Square Garden Monday
The tensions have escalated all over New York City after Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu were shot dead; by a gunman who through social media sought out to avenge the deaths of Eric Garner and Michael Brown. NYPD Chief Chaplain Rabbi Alvin Kass led a moment of silence for Ramos and Liu before Monday’s swearing-in ceremony. De Blasio was booed at, and some yelled ‘traitor’ from the crowd as he approached the podium; yet he was able to get through his speech to the tough crowd of graduating officers.
Generations of NYPD officers come forward and, one after another, have done better and better and better and made this city safer and safer. And now the baton is being passed to you to continue that progress
