Keith reveals an incredible story about the late, great sportscaster

Keith Olbermann is one of the more respected sportscasters, political analysts and TV broadcasters doing it. Part of his legacy includes a successful stint at ESPN as a Sportscenter anchor, one of the many positions at ESPN Stuart Scott held during his legendary tenure. Monday night, on Olbermann’s show, he told the story of the time an ESPN executive attempted to prevent Scott from using the lingo that would later make him famous on air because “not everyone understood” what Scott was saying.

Rather than immediately rebut the executive’s request, Scott took to ESPN’s website and wrote a lengthy post thanking ESPN for allowing him to be himself on air, and not suppressing his style of sportscasting–which included cultural references and colloquial diction–which helped ESPN stand out from some of the other run of the mill networks. It was a class act from a 1st class man, and in just under 7 minutes, Keith Olbermann does a phenomenal job of recounting that day, and his personal experience with someone whom the entire sports world will be forever indebted to.
