Mo was lighting up the Pacers….on a Tuesday!
The award for the most unsuspecting yet impressive scoring performance of the season goes to Minnesota Timberwolves guard Mo Williams. The 11 year veteran from the University of Alabama set the new season scoring high and Timberwolves franchise record by scoring 52 points in the team’s 110-101 victory over the Indiana Pacers. Williams went 19 for 33, hitting wild off balance three pointers from different area codes. When he was asked about his outstanding shooting performance, Mo responded by saying
You just go back to the places when you are in the gym by yourself with your own trainer. You are just shooting shots and it doesn’t matter where the defense is at.
Mo helped put a halt to Minnesota’s 15 game losing streak. Rookie standout Andrew Wiggins added to the win by 20 points while forward Gorgui Dieng contributed to the win by scoring 10 points. During the game, Mo told Pacers guard CJ Watson that “there was nothing you are going to do today, don’t even worry about it”. As shot after shot were sinking in, Watson had no choice but to adjust while his coach Frank Vogel sent ore defensive re enforcements on the season vet.
With a night Williams had for Minnesota, let’s hope he can be able to bring that kind of performance on a nightly basis to help take the scoring load off of Wiggins. Even though the Timberwolves are struggling, the future shines real bright for this young ball club. By having great veteran leadership like Mo Williams schooling the young ballers, Minnesota could be a scary ball club to play against a couple of years from now.
