Was it his arm or was it the tuck rule that made Terrific Tom famous?

As we head towards the final four of NFL playoffs, some minor trash talking and calling out has been done by a player who is not on a active roster of a NFL team. In fact, this legendary playmaker decided to hang up to trade in the shoulder pads and cleats for a suit and microphone. If you wondering who made the sports news for the recent verbal jabs being thrown, it’s ESPN Monday Night Football commentator and two time Super Bowl champion Ray Lewis. Recently, Lewis made a appearance on Stephen A Smith‘s Sirius XM radio show. During the interview, Ray gave his input on the controversial Dez Bryant incomplete catch during Sunday’s divisional playoff game. The 13 time Pro Bowler compared the referee’s called to the infamous “tuck rule” that was created after a controversial call during a divisional game between the Oakland Raiders and the New England Patriots in 2001.  The University of Miami-Florida great went on by saying this

Listen, not to go all totally out of conscious [I believe he meant ‘context’], but think about this Stephen A., honest to God. When we—the first time we created something a tuck rule, it’s the only reason we know—I’m just being honest!—the only reason we know who Tom Brady is, because of a tuck rule! There’s no such thing as a tuck rule! If the ball is in your hand, and I knock it out your hand, whether it’s going backwards, forwards, lateral, sideways, however it’s coming out, that’s a freaking fumble! But guess what we created? We created a freaking tuck rule!

When word got out about what Ray recently said about Brady, former NY Giant running back Tiki Barber and other experts took to Twitter to express himself.

Interesting words coming from a player who is the Ravens franchise all time leader in tackles and despite the rivalry, is a fan of the Patriots. Critics and fans can all agree that Ray sounds a bit outrageous for discrediting Brady’s hall of fame like accolades. A 3 time Super Bowl champion, 2 time NFL MVP, and 10 time Pro Bowl selectee, Brady has prove to everyone why he is considered to be one of the all time greats. With this upcoming AFC championship showdown against the Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts, Tom has the opportunity to solidify himself amongst the Mt. Rushmore of NFL quarterback greats by leading his squad to another Super Bowl appearance. The great WWE wrestling legend Ric Flair once reminded fans that “if you want to be the man, you have to beat the man”. Brady has proved that time and time again as he outcompete opposite quarterbacks and outsmart defenses year after year en route to becoming “the man” Ray Lewis fell victim towards. Don’t be suprised America witness a performance for the ages from the 37 year old vet thanks to the Lewis not giving credit when credit is due. Get your popcorns ready because this one is going to be a good one.
