There’s a popular saying in sports: “look good, feel good. Feel good, play good”. That may have something to do with one of Wale‘s new initiatives, as the recently named Creative Liaison of the Wizards has solicited the help of creative “genius” Kanye West with the redesigning of the Wizards’ jerseys. As far as playing good, that doesn’t seeem to be a problem for John Wall, Bradley Beal, Nene and the Wizards, who are currently second in the Eastern Conference, and had it not been for some late-game heroics from Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, would have defeated the Thunder, one of the league’s hottest teams, last night.

Wale, who is prepping his fourth LP, The Album About Nothing, for a March 31st release, spoke to ESPN about his new project. “I want to be a shot in the arm to DC basketball. My job is to provide a spark, at all costs. I’m not going to do anything corny, but I’m talking to Kanye about designing new uniforms.”

It’s pretty easy to imagine why Kanye West would want to be a part of something like this. Following the release of his latest album, 2013’s Yeezus, Kanye infamously spoke to BBC Radio’s Zane Lowe about his love for creating more than just music. He spoke at length on his will to design everything from pants and shoes to water bottles, and high school sports jerseys. The only awkward thing is, it isn’t far fetched to believe that the Wizards could face the Bulls in the playoffs. In fact, if they began today, that could very well be a 2nd round match-up. Derrick Rose might not like having to defend John Wall while he wears a DONDA-designed road jersey in Chicago.

Wale wants the world to know that the Wizards are more than just a good team playing good basketball. It’s a culture. “I want to take the personality of our stars — John, Otto, Marcin — and create what Kemp and Payton had, what LeBron and D-Wade had. That’s the vibe I want.”
