Not nice, Elf

Will Ferrell is keeping busy these days. His new movie, in which he plays an at-times-cornrow-clad business man who hires his Black friend to help him prepare for a 10-year prison bid, will be out in March, and he’s already working earnestly on his next project, a film called Daddy’s Home about a man’s efforts to be the best stepfather possible to his wife’s two children are thwarted by the return of their rogue, freeloading biological dad.

Last night, during halftime of the Pelicans’ 96-80 victory over the visiting Los Angeles Lakers, Will Ferrell was given the opportunity to make a half-court shot, surrounded by cheerleaders. Instead, he took the basketball, and deliberately threw it at the head of one of the cheerleaders, and slyly made his escape from center court. All types of yellow jackets–arena security–descended upon Ferrell, and it wasn’t long before he could be seen literally being thrown out of Smoothie King Center (?) by several members of security.

It turns out Ferrell’s brick was actually being filmed as a scene from Daddy’s Home, which will also star Mark Wahlberg. Just how much of the antics, including being thrown out of the arena, was part of the act? We may just have to wait and see. Expect to see Daddy’s Home in a theater near you by year’s end.
