The Cleveland Browns Pro Bowl wide out Josh Gordon has been in and out of trouble with the league since he was drafted back in 2012. A year later, he shunned all of the negativity by re-writing the Browns record books for receiving. He was primed and ready to a have a monstrous year in 2014 after the team drafted college sensation Johnny Manziel but his time on the field this past season was at a minimum after he was arrested for DUI last spring. Being given a slap on the wrist, he later tested positive for marijuana, which yielded him a 10 game suspension in 2014.

Gordon seemed to be on the right track, staying clean and sober throughout his suspension and even played in five games after being reinstated, but was soon suspended for the final game for violating team policy.

In what has to be one of the more SMH-worthy sports news in recent weeks, Gordon now faces a one year banishment after recently testing positive for alcohol. Due to his issues with alcohol in the past, it has been included in the list of substances he is tested for and should abstain from (2 year minimum).

Per the impending ban, Gordon’s contract with the team will “toll”, meaning he will become an unrestricted free agent after the 2016 season, as opposed to next season. This also means that he will not be paid during the suspension. Rumors are that he will most likely appeal the decision but that will fall on deaf ears as new head coach Mike Pettine stated he is well aware of the wideouts off the field troubles and “this offseason for (Gordon) puts him squarely at a crossroads for us.” That quote was pulled a week prior to these new developments.

Needless to say, if I had a choice between drinking alcohol, and getting paid millions to do what I love, i’d go with the latter.@Rocko_CNK
