“Selma” director Ava DuVernay and star David Oyelowo have announced that they are teaming up again to develop a film set against the backdrop of 2005’s Hurricane Katrina.  The movie will be a love story within a murder mystery and DuVernay will write, produce, and direct the film.  Oyelowo is currently in negotiations to produce and star in the untitled project as well.  This project will be the third collaboration between Oyelowo and DuVernay after “Selma” and “Middle of Nowhere.” Participant Media’s Jeff Skoll and Jonathan King will serve as executive producers on the new film.

“I’m thrilled to reunite with my Participant family on this project and fortunate to work again with the always exquisite David Oyelowo. The story we’re interested in will explore the complexities of intimate relationships within times of chaos, while also examining the chaos itself. I’m looking forward to the journey,” Ava told The Hollywood Reporter.
