California declares unregulated electronic cigarettes a health threat
Health officials stated that the popular smoking alternative e-cigarettes, should be regulated like any other tobacco product. The health report from the California Department of Public Health contends that e-cigarettes release cancer causing chemicals and still gets its users hooked on nicotine. Now there is still research being done to determine both the long term and short term effects of e-cigarettes. The hugely popular alternative will create new nicotine addicts according to Ron Chapman, who is a California Health Officer;
New generations of young people will become nicotine addicts if the products remain largely unregulated
As it currently stands Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Tennessee have all issued advisories cautioning users of e-cigarettes. No matter which side of the argument you fall on it’s obvious that more research definitely needs to be done. After the report was released Gregory Colony of American Vaping Association stated:
Despite the health officer’s false claims, there is ample evidence that vaping helps smokers quit and is far less hazardous than smoking. Smokers deserve truthful and accurate information about the relative risks of different nicotine products, not hype and conjecture based on cherry-picked reports.
