Kanye West has always been known to be outspoken, wearing his heart on his sleeve. That is perhaps one of the characteristics that endears him to his fans outside of the music. During the airing of the 57th annual Grammy Awards last night, rocker Beck snagged the trophy for Album Of The Year, beating out Pharrell, Beyonce, Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran. As he approached the podium, Kanye jumped on stage seemingly ready to snatch the microphone a la his Taylor Swift VMA debacle a few years. The stunt was only in good fun as the entire Staples Center burst into laughter.
Though it was all for laughs, Kanye was sincere in his thoughts that Beyoncé deserved the award. During a post Grammy interview with E! Network, a seemingly inebriated West gave his thoughts on Beck and the Grammy Award ceremony as a whole.
“I don’t even know what [Beck] said. I just know that, the Grammys, if they want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us. We aren’t going to play with them no more. ‘Flawless.’ Beyoncé’s video. And Beck needs to respect artistry, he should have given his award to Beyoncé.”
West also gave his thoughts the E! Network microphones.
“Who designed these mics? As you see I took the E! off my mic. Ok we know its E! already. Its going to be E! at the bottom of the screen right here. E!, E!, E!. We have to step up the taste level across the board on all networks.”
