When parents join social media, they feel that they can post pictures of their children without their children being ridiculed or bullied. Unfortunately, Kyra Pringle learned that statement wasn’t true when she posted a photo of her 2-year old daughter.

Pringle is the mother of Mariah Anderson, 2, a vivacious girl who suffers from a condition called chromosome 2p duplication syndication, which shortens her life expectancy and impairs both her learning and motor skills. On Mariah’s second birthday, her mother took a photo of the toddler and posted it to her page. Though the celebratory photo was supposed to bring joy to her followers, it quickly became the subject of cruel comments and memes.

In an interview with Charlotte’s News 2 News, Pringle gave an emotional interview about her daughter.

She’s not a monster, “She’s not fake. She’s real. She is here.

Pringle continued:

She’s fought for her life since she’s got here. I never thought in a million years that I would be sitting here trying to give Mariah’s story like this because of the negative.

A toddler though? Where are people’s morals?

  • People who BULLY other people, do it because they were probably raised, by parents, that let them do or say whatever they felt like saying, without consequences. But people that BULLY small, helpless children, like this little baby, should do some time behind bars, for Verbal Assault, on a Minor….Little one don’t you were about what those IDIOTS had to say about you. If you weren’t meant to be here, God would have stopped it from happening…You are here for a purpose….GOD LOVES YOU, YOUR PARENTS LOVE YOU, & NOW I LOVE YOU ! God Bless You little one !!!!!!

I’m totally against bullying of ANY type. But couldn’t the problem have been easily avoided by uploading the photos and making them only viewable by the people on the mother’s Facebook page? Then if the photos ended up in the public domain, she’d know she needs to rethink the people on her friends list.

First of all, there is no such thing in my view as an ugly child. THEY ARE ALL PRECIOUS ANGELS. YOUR ADVICE WAS EXCELLENT. I would say to the mother, let no one still your joy! Your love for your daughter should supersede any ill meaning comments directed towards your child. Know that and own it! Your child is beautiful to me and my family and we will remember you and her in my prayers. As said before, lack of morality and good manners can’t be legislated or prosecuted. People who dislike themselves, generally show it by putting others down and calling others names.
