I want ya’ll to know that I have a high regard for up & coming artists.  Well, the skilled ones, lol.  Over the weekend, I was put on to Reno native, Mark Myles.  Last week, he released his EP, Off The Record, which features some pretty dope production from DJ Illusion, SL The Don, The Boomanauts, and We The Best’s Reazy Renegade.  The first thing I did was skim through it, check out the beats, and hope for good music.

My ear is pretty diverse and I listen to Hip-Hop from all cities, however, a Reno emcee was new for me.  After listening to this project my usual five to six times, it’s safe to say that I cosign it.  Mark Myles has a good ear for production and thankfully, he creates music of significance.  He talks about life experiences, foul situations he overcame and witnessed, and overall, just some real ish.  From the verses to the hooks, it all makes sense, and I appreciate it.

The intro to the album happens to be my favorite due to the fact that it ‘s all real and relatable, bona-fide music, in which he addresses things regarding family, friends, enemies, women etc.  The starting point of an album is imperative because it sets the mood and determines whether you really care to listen or just check it out eventually.  The rest of the EP is dope, the beats bump, lyrics are on point and this isn’t your typical wack, “wannabe rapper” mixtape.  I can tell Mark takes his career seriously by the quality of his sound and visuals.
