The young talent the New York Giants landed in Odell Beckham Jr. has been constantly been taking the world by storm. With acrobatic catches week after week, the former LSU great was able to put up monstrous numbers while running away with the NFL Offensive Rookie Of The Year Award. During the off season with the help of Saints quarterback Drew Brees, he was able to set a new Guinness World Record with the most one hand catches in 1 minute. Next, he was able to show his hops by pulling off an impressive Lebron-like one hand dunk. Now, the Louisiana native told reporters that he was a talented soccer player in which his coach wanted him to play for the national team. Recently, Odell made a appearance on the Sky Sports’ Soccer AM show. Odell believes that if he was to stick with soccer, he would’ve been as big as international soccer superstars Lionel Messi and Neymar. Beckham told the host that his desire of pursuing football was to avoid leaving home. The 22-year old standout continued by saying this:

My coach was pushing and trying to get me on the national team, but at that age, you’re 13 or 14 years old, you know to make it big in soccer, you’re probably going to have to go overseas. Obviously, that would be the goal, that would be the dream. At that age it was just hard for me to get up and leave my family and just go.
