Her Source caught up with celeb makeup artist Lynn Austin over the weekend, who shared a few of her favorite looks and beauty products with us.
Her Source: Tell us about yourself girl, where are you located? What do you do, and what’s going on in your life?
Lynn: My name is Lynn Austin. I reside in Orlando, Florida, but being a professional makeup artist, I travel all around the world. I have a one year old son, who is my life, my everything, and the reason why I work so hard. I fell in love with makeup while I was a student and varsity cheerleader at North Carolina A&T, where I double majored in Criminal Justice and Psychology. I started working at MAC three years ago, and after learning from some amazing artists, I decided to take a leap of faith and started my own business, LooksofVanity. I just recently launched my Mink eyelash line called “Mink My Day,” in which I customized five different eyelashes for five different women; “Vanity 1” being the most natural, and “Vanity 5” being the most dramatic. I am blessed to say that I have worked with several amazing celebrity beauties, such as Love and Hip Hop New York’s Emily B, Tahiry, Erica Mena, Cyn Santana, and Deelishis, Mimi Faust, and Real Housewives of Atlanta Kandi and Porsha, as well as many more.
Her Source: So where are you mainly based out of?
Lynn: I am based out of Orlando and L.A. However, I travel wherever my clients request me.
Her Source: Living the life! Tell us, what are your top products that you must have in your kit and personal use.
Lynn: Definitely “Mink My Day” lashes from my lash line. I have a variety of five different three dimensional lashes which give you a natural and/or glamorous look. These are great because you can reuse them up to 30 times, with proper care.
- Highligher pens from MAC are another favorite. They have nearly every color for every skin tone, so it’s essential in my kit. These pens also have a dewy finish, which I love.
- Soft and Gentle, also from MAC. This is an illuminator that gives you a natural shimmery glow. It’s effortless.
- Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade is a gel used to fill in your brows. She has a collection with various shades for every hair color. She also has powders and pencils, which are great, as well as a water resistant brow gel, which are all great products.
- Prolongwear Concealer from MAC. I used them all, from light to dark, on my clients and myself. These are cute little pump bottles that provide great coverage, look natural, and last up to fifteen hours.
All MAC foundations are amazing! All of these products are great, because they are of quality, especially my mink lashes. They will mink your day!
