Hip-Hop heads’ fantasy appears to still be in the works

Many years ago–2011, to be exact–Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole appeared in a short Twitter video, in which they were standing outside holding an inconspicuous CD. On the CD, they teased, were several songs that they’d just completed in the studio, songs that Kendrick would preview in the coming days at a Los Angeles in-store event. From that day onward, the industry was abuzz. Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole, two of Hip-Hop’s most talented young stars, were teaming up for a joint LP. It couldn’t be true, could it?

According to Kendrick Lamar, who interviewed this morning with Ebro, Laura Stylez and Peter Rosenberg on Hot 97’s Ebro In The AM morning show, it is true. After being asked about the potential LP by Rosenberg, Kendrick didn’t hesitate to confirm that he and Cole were going to work on the project, and blamed scheduling for the reason they haven’t been able to actively work on it. Hopefully, now that both Cole and Kendrick have released their most recent albums, it can get off the ground.
