An aspiring 21-year-old D.C. rapper was shot and killed while filming a music video in Maryland Thursday

According to a WJLATV report, Keaway Lafonz Ivy, who used the rap name Kealo, died from a gunshot wound near 62nd Place and Eastern Avenue in Seat Pleasant last Wednesday night. According to law enforcement sources, Kealo was filming a rap video along with about 20 others, when a gun being used a prop was fired. Ivy was reportedly hit and killed by one of his friends with a prop gun.

Police said they were questioning numerous people as they investigated the death to try to determine whether it was an accidental shooting or intentional. By Thursday evening, police were calling the fatal shooting a ‘homicide’ and Prince George’s County Crime Solvers offered a $25,000 reward for information in the case leading to an arrest or indictment. On Thursday police arrested Lafonzo Leonard Iracks, 21, in connection to Kealo’s death. Police said that Iracks was “charged in connection” to the death.

The investigation is centering on the prop gun that was used in the video. It went off while the music video was being filmed, and reports state that the gunshot hit Kealo in the chest by a member of his own entourage. Iracks was arrested after he fled the scene following the gun going off and hitting Kealo. Police tracked him down on Friday morning and took him into custody.
