Idris Elba playing the infamous 007 is looking less and less like a reality
The rumor started with the man who currently plays James Bond, Daniel Craig. About four years ago, Craig said he thought Elba would make a great Bond, and in the blink of an eye, the rumor had gone viral. The internet was abuzz with excitement at the idea of Elba taking on the role. He definitely has the accent, sex appeal, swagger and charisma to make a convincing James Bond, so why not?
It seems the rumor did more harm than good. “If there was ever any chance of me getting Bond, it’s gone,” Elba told the audience at London’s British Film Institute on Tuesday. “Honestly, it’s a rumor that’s really starting to eat itself.” In fact he admits that he was never in talks with the film’s producers, and the fervor surrounding the rumors have done little to heighten his chances.
