The upcoming soundtrack will feature new tracks that were made for and inspired by the film.
As the founder of Shady Records, Eminem is also executive producer of the upcoming album. The first previewed single from the soundtrack, “Phenomenal” by Eminem, is produced by DJ Khalil and featured in the film’s trailer, which you can check out below. Other artists that will be featured on the soundtrack include Rita Ora and Tyrese Gibson. The film follows the trials and tribulations of light heavyweight boxing champion Billy “The Great” Hope (Jake Gyllenhaal) as he prepares for the greatest challenge of his life. The film also features Rachel McAdams, Oona Laurence, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Forest Whitaker. Southpaw will hit theaters July 24 and the soundtrack will be released in July as well. Shady Records President Paul Rosenberg said, “We have been involved in developing Southpaw since it’s inception and Eminem has dedicated himself to ensuring that this film captured his passion for the project through his music. We’ve assembled a great soundtrack to accompany what’s sure to be one of the finest boxing films ever.”
