Well, it was only a matter of time

Last night, news of Rachel Dolezal, an NAACP leader that’s been pretending to be Black for years, being outed as a white woman by her parents took over the internet. Pictures, videos, and her Instagram account were quickly unearthed, leading to this morning’s firestorm.

Part of those unearthed clips was the above interview, in which Dolezal is apparently being interviewed by a reporter who has some investigative questions about her ethnic background. The clip begins with the reporter asking Dolezal why her father couldn’t join her in Spokane for a special event she was involved in, to which she replied that he would’ve had he not been sick.

Okay, no red flags so far.

Shortly after that however, the reporter put 2+2 together and came up with 5. Here’s the transcript of what happened next, courtesy of Gawker.

Reporter: This man right here is your father? Right there?

Dolezal: Do you have a question about that?

Reporter: Yes, ma’am. I was wondering if, uh, your dad really is an African American man?

Dolezal: That’s a very—I mean, I don’t know what you’re implying.

Reporter: Are you African American?

Dolezal: I don’t… I don’t understand the question of—I did tell you that yes that’s my dad. And he was unable to come in January.

Reporter: Are your parents—are they white?

Dolezal: [Walking away] I refuse…

When the reporter began questioning Dolezal about her father after her explanation of his absence in Spokane, he must’ve been holding a picture of him, but that wasn’t included in the video clip. Start from around the 7:45 mark.
