Last night, news broke of a horrific shooting at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, in which a young, Caucasian, 21-year old male walked into a predominantly African-American church, spent an hour in a prayer meeting and opened fire, killing 9 people. He reportedly declared he was “there to kill Black people.”

Finally, after a more than 12-hour manhunt, the suspect, Dylann Roof–whose social media photos depict him donning a jacket with White supremacy and apartheid-South Africa insignia patches–has been taken into custody in North Carolina, according to a CNN report. Federal authorities have opened a hate crime investigation regarding the shooting.
