Johnny Phrank pays homage to MJ and “Dirty Diana” with this record.
Believe it or not, today marks the sixth anniversary of the legendary Michael Jackson’s passing. (Seems like much longer, right?)
It’s undisputable that MJ influenced countless artists, including Johnny Phrank, who commemorates MJ by releasing a song he wrote with Mr. Jackson’s own “Dirty Diana” in mind.
Phrank’s street-smart swag and darkly seductive style gives him a sound that’s uniquely all his own, but it doesn’t stop him from being compared to Future because of his descriptive street narratives, and The Weeknd, because of his silky smooth vocals.
His latest single, “Dirty Diana,” boasts production from producer Willie B, who is best known for producing Kendrick Lamar’s “Ignorance Is Bliss” and “Rigamortis” from Lamar’s Overly Dedicated and Section 80. The Grammy nominated producer also recently produced “03′ Adolescence” on J. Cole’s Forest Hills Drive album.
Give it a listen below, and find out why Johnny Phrank is the next big smooth crooner in music.
