The awkwardness surrounding this year’s NBA Draft peaks at Larry Nance Jr. being selected by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2nd round. The former Univ. of Wyoming standout once made a joke on Twitter in 2012, calling the Lakers’ star a rapist, and he didn’t bother to delete it. On draft night, that tweet resurfaced, catching the eye of ESPN, then, the world, and especially, Kobe Bryant and Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak.

Kupchak mentioned that Bryant and Nance Jr. would have to settle their differences themselves, and according to Kobe, they did. In a talk with ESPN’s Jemele Hill during BET Experience weekend, Bryant shrugged off the tweet, calling it “water” under the bridge, and revealing that he and Nance Jr. already had a brief back-and-forth about it, which Bryant welcomed with open arms.

The Lakers also selected the explosive D’Angelo Russell with their 1st round pick in the draft.
