The officials at World Boxing Organizations lands a major knockout blow to the icon known as “Money Mayweather”

Just months after the “fight of the century”, officials at the WBO have decided to bring the hammer down on Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. The #1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world has failed to comply with organization rules. Coming into the May 2nd bout, Floyd was the reigning WBC and WBA world welterweight champ. After defeating Manny Pacquaio with a unanimous decision on May 2nd, the WBO have ordered Mayweather to decided which weight class he wants to continue to hold the title . After a 2 month delay, the WBO had a committee meeting to vote on whether to strip Floyd for the championship we won from the Pac-Man. After the meeting, they decided to strip him from the title belt. After Mayweather heard news about the decision, he had this to say

I’ll talk to my team and see what we need to do. Other fighters need a chance. Give other fighters a chance. I’m not greedy. I’m a world champion in two different weight classes. It’s time to let other fighters fight for the belt.

After the announcement, the WBO have announced that the June 27th bout between Timothy Bradley Jr. and Jessie Vargas. The decision could be changed and be in the favor for Floyd if Mayweather pays the $220,000 fee and to vacate the junior middleweight belts. The clocking is ticking over at the Money Team camp as Floyd’s next fight is expected to be scheduled for Sept. 12.
