Jonny Johansson’s appreciation for punk and glam rock as well as an understanding of surf culture culminates in the Acne Studios Spring 2016 collection. Exaggerated silhouettes mesh with swirling brush strokes of color on pieces ranging from jumpsuits and rompers to long ribbed cashmere sweaters. The staples Acne has become renowned for such as the straight leg trouser or the well-crafted top are displayed this season in bright color ways.
Inspired by vintage punk band New York Dolls, the footwear features platforms and as with many of the clothes attempts to blur genre boundaries. “It has the femininity that I like, and the street-oriented attitude,” he explained after models finished walking confidently down the Marais Paris runway.
