Last summer, in the midst of Nicki Minaj‘s “comeback year,” in which she led an onslaught on Hip-Hop full of rap bangers, shocking moments and pop hits, quite possibly her biggest hit of the year, “Anaconda,” impacted, and in a big way. From the single’s artwork–which featured an extremely scantily-clad Minaj squatting, peering over her shoulder–to its product-laden, provocatively-choreographed video, featuring a satiric Drake appearance, “Anaconda,” was very much the crown jewel of Minaj’s 2014.

Today, the MTV Video Music Awards nominations were announced, and though “Anaconda” was nominated for several awards such as “Best Female Video” and “Best Hip-Hop Video,” but in some of the less genre-specific categories, “Anaconda” was noticeably missing. Nicki voiced her displeasure with that on her Twitter account.

It does beg the question: Had Nicki been one of those “other” artists, like Katy Perry or Taylor Swift, would she have been recognized in the categories from which she feels she’s been omitted?

She has somewhat of a point, but honetsly, she’s not in a Katy perry, Taylor swift league though. She’s amazing, but nah..
