Once again, the versatile Portland Trailblazer guard Damian Lillard is one of many invited to attend USA Basketball’s minicamp in Las Vegas in August, but after what transpired last year, the rising guard isn’t too fond of the nod. If you don’t remember, Lillard was cut from the summer’s roster right before the squad headed to Spain for guards Stephen Curry, Kyrie Irving and Derrick Rose.

Speaking on the invitation, Damian Lillard spoke with CBS Sports Radio’s Jody MacDonald and when asked if he’s heading to Vegas next month, he stated “probably not.” Jody MacDonald went further to ask him why not and he stated “I did it the last few summers. Last summer I didn’t make it, so I don’t why I would go. If I got cut last summer, I don’t think I’m a part of it.” Don’t know if that is the way a superstar in the league should be talking especially considering it’s a privladge to even be nominated, but he makes a valid point. It’s worth noting that his basketball camp is from August 11-13th which is the exact same time as minicamp so that could also be a reason he may not be attending.
