D.R.A.M., the Virginia native whose feel-good, Beyonce-endorsed “Cha Cha” put him on the map, has become a fringe-pop sensation, as the video to his break-out his nears the 4 million views mark, and his scene-stealing role on Donnie Trumpet and the Social Experiment‘s Surf album has quickly become a fan favorite.

For the second time this year, D.R.A.M. and Donnie have linked up, with “$,” a standout off the VA rep’s #1Epic EP, getting the Trumpet treatment for its official release as a single. “$” is a noted departure from the up-tempo nature of “Cha Cha,” as D.R.A.M. laments over his purpose before a booming bass line, accompanied by a steady piano melody and Donnie Trumpet’s liberating horns, help reveal that though D.R.A.M. isn’t exactly sure why he’s on this planet, he knows exactly what this particular song is for.
