Smith has put together an incredible career, ranking 14th on the all-time receiving yards list (13,262), and 18th in receptions (915). Smith is coming off a season where he caught 79 passes for 1,065 yards and six touchdowns. According to Pro Football Talk, the 36-year-old has been considering this move for a while now.

After being drafted out of Utah in the third round of the 2001 draft, Smith was able to make five Pro Bowls, and was able to overcome the stigma of beating up teammate Ken Lucas during practice to become somewhat of a leader with the Panthers, which included a 2003 SuperBowl appearance.
