Chicago Bulls superstar point guard Derrick Rose has had quite his share of hardships in recent years. Suffering consecutive injuries that sidelined him for the past few seasons, he hasn’t been on the court. With that said, Rose was one of the top athletes with major endorsements in the world, a fixture on television even though he was heavily absent on the court. His clean cut humble personality endeared him to fans across the world.

Today, Rose faces his first major off the court issue. An alleged ex-girlfriend of his, who is only being identified as Jane Doe at this point, has accused the NBA star and two of his friends of gang raping her. According to TMZ, the accuser says she dated Rose from 2011 to 2013, during that time she says the star athlete pressured her to masturbate in front of him and allow her to have sex with his friends. All of which she refused.

Things go on to get much hazier.

Rose’s accuser says the two continued to date until August 2013, when Rose and two friends, Ryan Allen and Randall Hampton (who is also Rose’s personal manager), invited her to Rose’s Beverly Hills house. She says there, they slipped a drug into her drink with the aim of raping her.

The plaintiff says she escaped the house with a friend, but later that night, Rose and his friends broke into her apartment and gang raped her while she was incapacitated. She says she remembers only “flashes” of the incident, but can remember the defendants forcibly raping her.

The accuser says she waited years to file the report because she was “ashamed and embarrassed” of the repercussions it would bring to her conservative family.

Without a doubt, this looks to be one of the bigger headlines in the sports world for 2015. Surely, more will develop on the case over time.
