Football play or not…Commissioner Goddell is making Jones pay a hefty price for his actions.
When trouble comes looking for repeat offenders, they sure know how to find it’s way there. A prime example is Cincinatti Bengals cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones as he ended up as a topic of discussion on ESPN but most importantly, in the NFL headquarters. Jones was fined $35,000 for slamming Oakland Raiders rookie wide receiver Amari Cooper‘s head into his helmet during their week 1 matchup. The play occurred during the 2nd quarter when Cincinatti decided to punt the ball to Oakland. As the ball was in the air, Cooper was blocking Jones then things went for a left turn as Amari took a swing at Adam. One thing led to another and the two players were wrestling on the ground, then Jones decided to pull Cooper’s helmet off then slams his head into the helmet, causing his team to receive a flag. Jones spoke about the incident and decided to make a appeal on the commissioner’s decision. He went on SportsCenter to say this:
Yeah I got fined. $35K. Way too much for a football play. I’ll appeal. The story is magnified because it’s me. I can’t promise it won’t happen again. I’m a emotional player”.
The former West Virginia Mountaineer standout has a history of getting in trouble with the league officials. Since reappearing in a NFL uniform in 2010, Jones has been making great positive strides to the point where people almost forgot the troubles he had faced during his playing days in Dallas. May this be the last time you get slap with a large fine, Pac-Man. Play hard but keep it clean.
