August Alsina is prepping his sophomore album for a November release, and thankfully, the New Orleans native has gotten back to releasing music.

While we wait for This Thing Called Life to impact next month, August is holding fans over with the album’s second single, “Song Cry,” produced by B.A.M. and more than likely influenced by Jay Z‘s Blueprint classic. With lines like, “And I know they think I’m sporadic/The bastard child of an addict/But I’m way too calculated,” the NOLA native certainly has a myriad of reasons for making that the song’s title. It’s also worth mentioning that Alsina’s Nicki Minaj-assisted “No Love,” was recently awarded a platinum plaque, so he’s got plenty of momentum heading into his release. Listen to the song above.
