Tomorrow will be the 13th anniversary of the release of Eminem‘s 8 Mile, which is heralded as a classic moment for numerous reasons like its soundtrack and impact on the culture.

One of the extras in the movie was Marv Won who you will have probably only seen if you watched the DVD version of the movie. He talked to MTV about the scene he appeared in, where he got the once in a lifetime opportunity to battle Em, just for being a contest winner.

I think they did it, really, just to keep the morale of the extras up because we were fading. The competition winners would (maybe) appear in a silent 8 Mile montage.

Here’s what he had to say about the scene:

What a lot of people don’t know is that on the parts where people think he’s pantomiming, he was actually rapping. His mic was just turned off. So, I hear him rapping, but I have no idea what he was saying. Then, all I remember is, as he was turning his mic on, he was like, ‘Oh, I’ve got something for you, Marv. I’ve got somethin’ for your fat ass.’
